I am pleased and frustrated...............Ed Tech constantly sends emails highlighting articles...each day I open it up- quickly view the headlines-more often than not....something catches my eye----today was no different.....except this time, I was frustrated.....

Reading this article about ptotential teachers...working and getting a degree at the same time- being able to do this b/c of technology....webcams and Skype......okay now....this is NOTHING new to us....I am proud to say that we are progressive.....but we really need to get on that publishing train.....within the scope of our work, we have so much to offer the world...so much knowledge within our team.....we need to show off the things we have been doing for so long.......

  1. i read the linked article, are we there yet? what are you seeing that we are doing that would be worthy of publication? i see the potential for published work but i'm not sure we are doing anything yet, i hope that will change 6 months from now.

  2. The idea of using webcams and Skyping to "observe" is nothing new...we have been talking about this since last year in terms of the online components.....publishing...why wouldnt we be there yet? I am not simply speaking about what we are doing with respect to web 2.0 apps...but all of the ideas that are generated in our dept. This way of teaching [distance] is common practice....

My point was that we are FULL of great ideas....we just need to put them out there.....

  3. I agree. We have been doing many great things for quite some time--and talking about publishing for over a year. Our Washington NSDC experience validated that we have something to offer.
